In early 2007, the Open Compliance and Ethics Group (OCEG), Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, SAP and Cisco undertook a research initiative to better understand how organizations address the strategy and structure of their governance, risk management and compliance (GRC) programs. An initial hypothesis was that although organizations recognize the need to better integrate their GRC programs with mainstream business processes, few have begun to do so.

Carole Stern Switzer, OCEG Executive Vice President and General Counsel, recently posed a series of questions to three leading analysts. Their answers reveal much about the future of GRC as an integrated effort.
